about

There are pitfalls to bedroom digital recording which anyone on Bandcamp could attest to. One of which is going overboard in the face of so many options. I could’ve reined myself in with "True Stories" (2017), but since I have no plans to perform this music live, I figured let ‘er rip. I wanted every instrument to kick up a storm with very little easing up. The way the key switches between the intro and first verse, I love when songs do that and I wanted one of my own.

The lyrics sorta convey the message of, you know, it's all relative and just because your problems may not add up the severity of other people's problems doesn't mean they're not problems. Also, quit bitchin' or get out of the kitchen.

lyrics

True stories never fade
They just grow tired on the page
Call the fiends out for a ride, pulling me through the other side
Don't you see me?

Stone sober are the days
Well over twice the legal age
See me falling falling falling falling from the stage
Once the heart is true, then it's black and blue

I shouldn't carry on this way, I shouldn't carry on this way

Stuck staring at my face
Grasping at straws my fingers ache
Held the glue against the tide, now I'm just trying to stay alive
Don't you see me?

For God's sake don't look down
Trap doors are open all around
For all the madness cons the morning
Out of what to say in a lifetime

I had the nerve to rise
Call if courage in disguise, I'm not like all the other guys
Don't you see me?

about

Jason Moody Chicago, Illinois

"Local musician Jason Moody has been riding the periphery of the Chicago indie scene for years, and I think he deserves a lot more attention than he gets. He's a songwriter who crafts well-structured pop songs, which makes them ripe for covering (check out Daniel Knox's cover of "Halcyon Days"). Moody has a way with melody and hooks. He's also got a lovely voice."
